The Bridal Party

The Bride

Diana Pay

Diana met Jimmy while attending Oak Grove High School in San Jose. They crossed paths in early freshman year, but Diana never paid much attention to the shy stoic young man sporting the Asian mop afro who sat behind her in Calculus class. Unbeknownst to her, a mutual friend referred Jimmy to Diana's website to take a peek. Being the curious geek, Jimmy scoped out the source code on her website and noticed clean hand written code. It was "love at first code." That was enough to bring this young geek out of his shell. Jimmy took a bold step and scribbled a message to Diana on her website guestbook. He wrote, "You probably don't know me, but I'm in a few of your classes. Nice website!" After reading the message, Diana thought to herself, "Who the heck is this guy? Another stalker?" The next day at school, Diana has an awkward encounter with "the stalker" who turned out to be Jimmy and has not been able to lose him since.

Diana is well known for her sweet tooth and keeps a staple diet of sour gummy candies and watermelon. She enjoys vegging out to a good movie with a large bowl (or two) of popcorn and sour worms. Her preferred beverage is Mountain Dew, vital fuel for her late night gaming binges and rocking out on Rock Band. When Diana is not leading the band, she enjoys singing her favorite tunes in the car or karaoking. To work off all the sweets, Diana rock climbs and practices pilates.

Diana graduated from UC Davis with degrees in Communications and Economics. She currently holds a position as a Senior Financial Analyst for the regional offices of Kaiser Permanente in Oakland.

The Groom

Jimmy Chen

Jimmy first took notice of Diana during PE class back in high school. Diana had a particularly bewitching talent for tying her hair up in "Chun-Li buns" without any hair accessories. Every so often, while Jimmy stared at her buns (on her head), they would unravel in a spectacular flurry whenever she leapt to fire a three point shot on the basketball court. Each moment always played back in Jimmy's head in slow motion. But alas, Jimmy sat idle and simply gawked from afar, cowering beneath his Asian mop afro, too timid to make a move. It was not until that fateful day when a mutual friend mentioned Diana's personal website, that he realized this gal had nice buns (on her head) and brains! His guestbook post broke the ice for the two geeks-to-be, but Jimmy had to do more. It was rumored that Diana had a notorious sweet tooth, so Jimmy schemed to exploit Diana's weakness. Every day in Calculus class, Jimmy brought in a bag of gummy sour worms to share with his classmates. To Diana's dismay, she was not one of them. Jimmy noticed Diana's fleeting glances behind her in hopes she may be offered a sour gummy or two. She was right where he wanted her; too modest to ask, but still hoping for a friendly offer. Jimmy casted his sour worm bait, and she was hooked. Thereafter, Jimmy brought a steady supply of sour worms to class for Diana and they inevitably became best buddies.

As a tech geek and avid gamer, Jimmy spent his college days gaming the days and nights away while meeting many friends along the way who shared his addictions. The same addictions have carried over to the present but now in more moderation. He always enjoys the company of his friends for LAN parties, Rock Band tours, movies, and good food. Between his busy schedule, Jimmy squeezes in rock climbing and time at the driving range, or a relaxing spin in the car. When time permits, he would also like to get back into roller hockey and snowboarding.

Jimmy graduated from UC Davis, majoring in Engineering Computer Science and minoring in Managerial Economics. He is currently employed by ARYx Therapeutics in Fremont as the IT Manager.

The Maid of Honor

Nina Ung

Nina, the maid of honor, met Diana through family members at the tender age of 4 years young. As a result of their mothers shopping in same location, they would show up at school looking like twins dressed in the identical outfits. Unfortunately, these sisters of fate were forced to part in the 5th grade when Nina's family moved to Utah. She and Diana penned letters to one another to keep in touch and Nina learned of Jimmy and his unusual but effective tactics in wooing Diana in high school.

Nina's weakness is getting pampered at the spa. Other free time is spent lounging, traveling, eating, and being surrounded by people who are essential to every aspect of life. She earned a B.S. in Health Education and Nursing from the University of Utah and is currently working as a pediatric nurse in Salt Lake City.

The Bridesmaids

Alice Chen

Alice, Jimmy's second elder sister, is one of the four bridesmaids participating in the wedding. She grew up with Jimmy and enjoyed bossing around her younger brother. On a weekend trip home from school in Santa Barbara, Alice met Diana for the first time and was shocked that Jimmy actually managed to have a female friend. The two became fast friends and spend a lot of time together, including a recent trip to China where they spent more time looking for Louis Vuittons than sightseeing!

Outside of work this bridesmaid enjoys catching up with friends over drinks at happy hours, cooking, and long afternoon naps with Killer (the most adorable puppy-dog). One day, Alice hopes to find the same happiness as Jimmy and Diana.

Alice attended UC Santa Barbara where she obtained a B.A. degree in Communications with a minor in Art History. After college, she decided to pursue a career in marketing. She currently works as a marketing coordinator for the Asia practice of Finnegan LLP, a leading intellectual property law firm.

Vien Huynh

Vien met Diana their first year of college at UC Davis while living in the Regan Hall dormitories. It was a 3 am trip to the ladies room when the two first officially met. As Vien sleepily walked out of the bathroom stall that fateful day, she was greeted with the sweet and angelic voice of Diana asking her how she was doing. Because it was so late into the night, all Vien could think about was getting back to sleep; she did not return Diana's enthusiasm to chit chat and only blankly glanced in Diana's direction then walked out. It was not until 3 years later that the two ladies ended up in the same Japanese class together. After many hours of studying and working on class projects, the two reconnected and became fast friends, spending their summers poolside tanning and then freezing in Jimmy's college apartment.

Vien is ecstatic to be a part of Diana and Jimmy's special day. She is originally from the Bay but currently resides in Davis. In her spare time, Vien loves to nap and get her grub on. She is the proud owner of an extensive-mostly Hello Kitty sticker collection.

Ranon Luy

Like everyone, we all have our ways of meeting each other. Ranon met Diana 4 years ago at a family event, where their parents arranged a reunion after many years of lost connection. Since they both attended UC Davis at the time, the pair would go to the gym, make frequent dinner arrangements, and have nightly outings. And of course, when there is a Diana, there is also always a Jimmy. They are inseparable!

Ranon is a UC Davis graduate in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Managerial Economics. She is currently working at Thermofisher Scientific in Fremont, and manages her properties on the side. Aside from work, Ranon spends lots of time with family and friends, enjoys outdoor activities and arts-n-crafts. She hopes that after marriage, Jimmy and Diana will still be able to make some time for their occasional outings and/or karaoking.

The Best Man

Horia Grosu

This bright and good looking European met both Jimmy and Diana during his tenure at Oak Grove High School. Horia has known Jimmy since the good ol' days of the IBM 386. They always spent their time playing video games and surfing the BBS on their "high speed" 14.4 Kbps modems. Jimmy was also the neighborhood supplier of the finest beef jerky in town. Being such a glutton for jerky, Horia was limited to 1 piece per day, but little did Jimmy know that he always snuck an extra piece. Ah, the good ol' days.

Jimmy and Horia parted ways when they both went to college. Jimmy attended Moo Town while Horia attended Weed Town. Both have successfully graduated; Jimmy holds a degree in Cattle Herding and Horia holds dual degrees, B.A. in Business Management Economics and B.S. in Computer Science. Horia currently holds the position of IT Manager at BARRX Medical, Inc. His hobbies include, but not limited to mountain biking, traveling the world, salsa dancing and simply having a great time hanging out with friends.

The Groomsmen

Jason Yee

Jason met Jimmy and Diana his first year in the Malcolm Hall dormitories at UC Davis along with his roommate and longtime friend Eric. All four, and quite a few others in the hall, shared a passion for video gaming and began their humble beginnings as a Counter-Strike team known as UCDMOO. After much gaming and studying their first year, Jason, Eric, Jimmy, and Diana moved out of the dorms with their friend Simon into an apartment which was later affectionately nicknamed the "Moo House." LAN parties became an annual tradition and to this day there is still an annual MOOLAN to gather our college buddies together for some old school fragging fun. The better part of Jason's college career was spent alongside the Jimmy and Dianar gaming and studying (mostly gaming) and for that he is thankful.

Eventually Jason graduated (super senior!) as a civil engineer and is now working in Redwood City for BkF Engineers. From time to time he hangs out with the Jimmy and Dianar over some video gaming goodness, but usually when not grinding away at work, Jason likes to chill with his girlfriend Jennie, work on his Toyota MR2, play badminton, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and of course, video games!

Eric Leong

Eric, one of the original four UCDMOO team members, spent many sleep deprived nights honing his CS (both Counter-Strike and Computer Science) skills with Jimmy from the beginning until the end of their college careers. He always looked forward to the last minute group projects and passing out in the middle of the hall way with a textbook as a make-shift pillow. A master in the art of procrastination, Eric lives by the motto, "If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done."

Eric graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering and a minor in Managerial Economics. He now works as a software applications engineer at Marvell Semiconductors. Eric enjoys tennis, football, archery, and hanging out with his friends.

Dring Xiang

Dring met Jimmy and Diana together during their college years at UC Davis. He was a frequenter of many of their organized events and LANs. Diana often treats him like a rowdy younger brother. As a proud Vancouverite, Dring is always the butt of every Canadian joke in the book.

He is a M.S. graduate in Electrical Engineering from UC Davis and is currently working at Agilent Technologies in the North Bay. Dring is a huge fan of the outdoors, loves camping and hiking. He has also been spotted laying out for an ultimate disc and training for triathlons.
